here we have the first set of shots with the new camera and the kit lens from the d50. I read that 'standard' lenses were best for urban photography, and I wanted to get some wide shots too. Surprisingly, I've put most of the shots into black and white, but then the sensor, the metering and everything is so superior on this camera - I can effortlessly get the flat clean shades of grey that always eluded me with the d50, as well as the totally mindblowing absence of noise on this sensor at mid-range ISO that would have pebble-dashed the shots on the d50, giving the opportunity for close crops.
Of course the colour response is terrific and I will have to post some colour shots in the future. But the metering is just sooo much better - most of the time before I got the d300 I was shooting on manual on the d50 by eye because the metering was so out of whack. With this, 9 times out of 10 you check the levels and they are spot on. Focus is pin sharp which means I really have to watch the aperture on wide shots if I want more of the shot to be in clear focus - fallen foul of that a few times. And the KTHLACK sound of the shutter release...
IF I WATCH YOU PLEASE SEE BELOW I have got hopelessly behind with this and recently have started watching a few more people but If I watch you and your avatar is not below, please comment on this journal and I will add you to the list.
